Our Jr. Marlins is a developmental program for our youngest swimmers to help get them ready to join the Marlins Swim Team. The program is a perfect way to ease swimmers into the swim team by focusing on stroke instruction as well as teaching some swim practice basics such as how to understand the swim coach lingo such as "leave on the top" and "do two 50s of free."
WHO: Emerging swimmers aged 4-7 who can safely make it across the pool in at least one stroke, but they are still learning the other strokes. Should be mature enough to listen and take instructions that begin to resemble practice instructions.
PRACTICES: Practices are 2 times per week for 30 minutes. If Jr. Marlins improve enough during the course of the season, they will be invited to participate in the Marlins practices.
MEETS: Jr. Marlins are encouraged to attend meets even if just to swim one or two events.
VOLUNTEERING: If you only have a Jr. Marlin swimmer(s), you do not need to volunteer at the swim meets or sign up for a spirit job. If you have a Jr. Marlin and a Marlin, your Jr. Marlin will not count as a swimmer in connection with determining how many meet jobs your family completes.
