Welcome to the Greenmeadow Marlins!
The Greenmeadow Marlins is a community based swim team available to Family Swim members of Greenmeadow Community Association, which participates in a summer league and also offers year round practices and lessons. While the Marlins love to swim fast, the main goal is making as many friends as you do waves.
Why Join a Summer Swim Team: Swimming is a unique sport in that boys and girls aged 4 to 18 are all equal members of the team. Swimming is almost guaranteed to exhaust your kids with a solid work out, but they come home fresh and clean! Swimmers compete in individual events and there are also mixed gender relays, which are a highlight for swimmers and parents alike.
Eligibility: All swimmers need have a Family Membership to GMCA (other membership levels are not eligible for the team). The swim team is for children aged 4-18 as of May 31st who are able to swim one lap of the pool (25 yards) safely and unassisted in at least one of the four strokes. Nineteen year olds are eligible if they turned 19 before June 1 of their senior year of high school. Our Jr. Marlins program is offered for our 4-7 year old swimmers who are still beginners.
Practices: We offer swim practice on a year round basis, with our summer league generally from April through July. You can see the full schedule on the Practice tab.
Meets: We usually have one practice meet, five dual meets, and one Champs meet. Most meets are all on Saturday mornings, with the exception of Champs that is usually Sunday. We have
a bye-week around the 4th of July. You can have all your meet questions answered here.
Parent Volunteering: Other than our professional coaches, the meets and social events are run entirely by our wonderful Marlin parents. All parents are expected to work a meet job if they have a child swimming, and a Spirit Job(s), which is usually helping with a social activity.
Fun Stuff: The Marlins are all about having good old fashion summer fun with poolside dinners, movies and popcorn in the clubhouse, teen only social events, pep rallies, and the famous Greenmeadow 4th of July Party.
New to Greenmeadow: Please feel free to reach out to our New Member Liaison Mari Ueda-Tao or Donna Hill with questions.
