When I was four, I saw the Greenmeadow swim team practicing and begged my mom to let me join. I swam for the Marlins for the next ten years, continued swimming and playing water polo at Paly, and ultimately went on to play water polo at UC Davis. As a young swimmer, I loved hanging out at the pool, competing on the swim team, and being part of the Marlin community. My goal is to instill a similar love of swimming and a sense of belonging for our swimmers and their families. GO MARLINS!

I grew up spending summers in the pool mostly splashing around, but it wasn’t until college that I properly learned how to swim and ended up on inter-collegiate swim teams. Back then I gravitated toward the long distance —swim marathons, sea swims, and even an 85-hour record swim along the way. These days, getting a solid 1K in feels like an accomplishment.

Our family loves the Greenmeadow community and the Marlins—the close-knit friendships, the energy of swim meets, and the way everyone pitches in to make it special for the kids. I’m excited to help out and be part of the team behind the team.

I grew up as a summer swimmer (in a much shorter season!) in Concord, NH, where I loved summer league swimming. I love the sense of community around the Marlins, and all of the fun and friendships that it instills.

Swimmers: Andrew and Peggy

Favorite Meet Job: DQing my own children as a stroke and turn judge (sorry, not sorry).

I grew up in Great Falls, VA (outside Washington DC), where I loved summer swimming and diving for Great Falls Swim & Tennis Club : The Rapids. I grew up in the pool, starting as an 8 & under swimmer, to eventually lifeguarding and teaching swim lessons. I even taught a future Olympian to kick her feet and blow bubbles. I feel the same sense of community and family around the Marlins. It's funny to be on the other side now, as a parent rather than a swimmer.

Swimmer: Catherine ("cat" / "catfish" / "kit cat")

Marlin Since: 2019

Favorite Meet Job: Eating Spam musubi and wearing a bright vest putting out fires as your meet director... and asking parents to not take photos behind the blocks.

I grew up trying to stay cool in Sacramento summers! While I never swam on any swim team, I love what the Greenmeadow Marlins community means to our family. We spend most of our summers at the pool and love seeing the family we’ve made along the way!

A former and sometimes still triathlete, I'm an adult onset swimmer. I can still be found trying to learn how to swim with the early morning crew at Greenmeadow. I want my kids to learn to swim better than I can, and I love admiring the Marlins swimmers who are already faster than I am. Go Marlins!

Swimmers: Neko, Bowie, and Charlie.
