Big Congrats to all of you who are going to be promoted soon from 8th grade and shout out Nina, Katie, Morgan, Miles, Kailey and Riley for graduating soon from High School!!! Your Lead CIT coordinator this summer is Snezhana Ballagas, with some help from Allison Frisbee and Donna Hill. But first, don’t forget to sign up for the Practice Meet (swimmers here and jobs herenext Saturday: May 17th from 9-12, followed by a free ice cream social.

CIT OVERVIEW- ALL 13+ INCLUDED NO APPLICATION

For those of you new to our Coach In Training (CIT) program, all swimmers 13 and older are welcome to participate in as much or as little as they’d like. There is no application to join, we will invite all 13+ swimmers to everything. We have social events and many volunteer opportunities, both swimming and non-swimming related. Other than the social events, all hours can count towards high school volunteer requirements! You keep track of your own hours and we have a Volunteer Hours FAQ on our website to hopefully answer all your questions about hours.

COMMUNICATION

We use a WhatsApp group for communication purposes. Parents and CITs, please join the WhatsApp to stay connected with this this link.

IN-WATER PRACTICE HELP

We would love any CITs who are willing to help with practices, getting in the water with the littles makes practices more fun for them and is a great way to learn how to teach swimming. You’d help with 1-2 lanes by correcting their strokes in the water, cheering on 2 hand touches, and making things fun for all. Great way to start to learn how to be a swim instructor. Please come as much as you can to help at these practices:

  • 4:15 - 4:45 PM (Jr. Marlins T/Th and Adv. 8Us M/W/F)
  • 4:45 - 5:15 PM (Beginning 9-10s)

MEET JOBS

The little kids love having CITs help them at meets! The meet jobs include things like organizing relays, helping the coaches, rallying kids in the clerk of course, and just cheering loudly. The Assistant Coaches will have a meeting at the start of each meet to go over things, but the main thing we need help with is the relays. The more the merrier and volunteer hours are available!

13+ WEDNESDAY PRACTICE 7-8 WITH FOOD!!!

Starting on June 11th we will have a special practice just for all swimmers who are 13 and older on Wednesdays from 7-8 followed by free dinner! We will only keep it going if there is a good turn out, so get out there and enjoy some pizza and pool time.

CIT DIVE CLINICS

Our CIT dive clinics for our 10 and under swimmers are great way for the big kids and littles to get to know each other. These will be on June 8th and June 22nd from 10 AM - 12 PM. No experience is necessary. We’d just ask that you review the dive progression videos below and follow the dive stages. It’s more about bonding with the little and having fun, so please sign up. Volunteer hours available!

LOTS OF NON-SWIMMING VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

If you aren’t interested in helping at meets or practices, that’s fine! We have lots of other non-swimming type of opportunities. Do we have any aspiring videographers who want to make a mini movie about a Marlins season something like this Saratoga Woods video? Any Canva experts who want to help make fliers? Any event planners who want to take the lead on organizing a CIT event? We can give volunteer hours and gives a little something extra to put on your resumes and college apps.
