What did I sign up to do? What do I need to sign up to do?
Marlins,
Thank you to everyone who has signed up for a Spirit Job! If you haven't signed up for one, please reach out to Iliana Chen ([email protected]) and she can find a good fit for your family. If you signed up for one and can no longer do it, please let her know ASAP, please do not wait until right before an event (see below for how to tell what you signed up to do). Iliana will also periodically send emails to those without jobs looking for help, so please help when you can. We are currently looking for volunteers to organize the Family Game Night on Saturday June 1st, 6:30-9:30pm, so please let us know if you can help.
WHAT IS A SPIRIT JOB AND WHO NEEDS TO DO ONE?
Spirit Jobs are volunteering for social events or roles that last the whole season. For example, you can sign up to help at the Luau or be the lead coordinator for meet set up at all our home meets. All families are expected to do one spirit job for the season regardless of whether you are signed up to do meets or not. If you only have Jr. Marlins, you are exempt, but if you have a Jr. Marlin and a Marlin, then you are still expected to sign up. You can read more about Spirit Jobs here and how they differ from meet jobs here and on pages 12-14 of the attached parent orientation slides.
Meet jobs are those you do at meets like timing or concessions, you only need to do a meet job if you have a Marlin in the meet (if you only have Jr. Marlins you are exempt from meet jobs too). You sign up for these when you sign up your swimmers for meets.
WHAT DID I SIGN UP TO DO?
If you signed up for one (thank you!), but can't remember what it is, you can check by logging into SwimTopia and clicking on "My Account" in the drop down under your name in the upper right corner. This will show your family and at the bottom it will show what jobs you have signed up to do for the Summer for all meets and events. Please add your Spirit Job to your calendar!
Some Spirit Jobs are more ongoing roles that are not associated with one event, so to see if you signed up for one of those, you can click on your name and it will show all the roles you have. You can see below that for the next meet I am the meet director and then when I clicked on my name, it shows my ongoing roles for the team.
If you get the SwimTopia App, it will show you what your swimmer’s events and their results, but it also shows you what you signed up to do at meets for your meet job. There is a paid version that will show you all the meet results, but the free version just shows your swimmers.
Iliana will be sending instructions to most of you for your jobs, but please reach out to her at anytime with questions.
Thanks
Donna
Thank you so much for all your help and support to make this a fun summer for kids and parents alike!
