Scary Distance Meet Sheets and Info

Marlins,

I hope everyone is getting frightfully excited about the Scary Distance Meet tomorrow! I’ve attached the athlete sheets, volunteer sign-ups, and an explanation on how to read the athlete sheets. The timeline is below and we will start on time, so please do not be late.

If you can no longer do your volunteer job, please let me know ASAP (email or text 650-218-4582) so we can try to find a replacement for you.

We will have some free and tasty breakfast on offer. We will also be running a raffle between events and each swimmer will have a raffle entry. The swimmers will also receive a goodie bag when they arrive. There is candy in the goodie bags and we will have some that are nut free. Please let me know if there are other allergies that we need to accommodate. We may have some extra goodie bags for siblings who aren’t swimming, but please wait until the end of the meet to take an extra.

TIMELINE

8:00: All Meet set up and prep volunteers arrive including those for meet set up, concessions set up, apparel, goodie bag set up, and volunteer check in. Please check in at the volunteer check in table with LeAnn, which will be near the women’s restrooms.

8:30: All swimmers and first half volunteers should arrive. Swimmers can collect their goodie bags, which will be on a table to the left and all volunteers should check in with LeAnn. Swimmers do not need to check in, but they may do an optional warm up. Coach Ryan will be on deck to help with anyone who wants to warm up.

8:45: Timer meeting for all timers. We will only have one timer per lane, so we are relying on you to focus on your lane. We will also be using hand timers and you will need to record the time on the timer sheet as legibly as possible. Please attend the meeting to understand how to use the timers. If you are a newer timer, please pick lane 1 or 6 since they will have fewer swimmers.

8:50: Team Cheer to get everyone Fired UP!

9:00: Meet starts with 8U fly events and will go in order of fly, back, breast, free, IM from youngest to oldest age groups and shorter to longer distances in each age group.

After Event 14 (8U 50 BR): Second half volunteers start their shifts.

12:00: We should wrap up by noon, but it’s hard to predict the timing. Please take a moment to clean up any trash in your area before you leave, particularly any candy wrappers and goodie bags. Tear down workers can start as soon as the meet finishes.
