Summer Marlins Welcome to Scary Distance 10/21
All,
The Scary Distance Meet on Oct. 21st from 9-12 is open to everyone who was a Marlin over the summer, even if you are not doing Fall Conditioning, so please reach out to me ([email protected]) if you were a summer Marlin and want to participate (see below for sign up and $15 payment links). It’s a great meet and fun way to get the Marlin community together. The deadline to sign up is Oct. 18th @ 5PM
SCARY DISTANCE DETAILS
The meet is optional and is just with fellow Greenmeadow swimmers, but very festive, so we hope you will all give it a try. There are goodie bags, a raffle for prizes, free food and chance to try longer distance races without any DQs if the kids are feeling adventurous.
Please sign up swimmers here (if you are not in Fall conditioning, you may participate, but will need to send me an email first and don't forget the final Save on the entries) and volunteers here. There are detailed instructions regarding how to sign up for jobs and meets here. Please don't forget to hit the “Save” button at the bottom to finalize the entries.
Who? The meet is open to all 2023 Summer and 2023 Fall Conditioning swimmers (Marlins and Jr. Marlins), but no adults for this one, just the kiddos. If you are not doing Fall Conditioning, I will need to give you permission to sign up, so please send me and email and I will let you know when you may enter.
Cost? The cost is $15 per swimmer, which includes a spooky swim cap, goodie bag, free bagels/donuts, and a raffle ticket per event entered. You can pay for the entry on our team store (here) or via venmo to @gmcamarlins.
Events? We will offer the events below and your swimmers may enter up to one distance of each stroke plus the IM. Remember, there are no DQs, so be brave and go big!
- 8 & Under: 25 or 50 of fly, back, breast, free, and 100 IM
- 9-12: 50 or 100 fly, back, breast, free, and 100 or 200 IM
- 13+: 50 or 100 fly, 100 or 200 of back, breast, free, and 100 or 200 IM
Volunteers? If you have a swimmer, you are expected to sign up to volunteer for at least one shift here. If you only have Jr. Marlin swimmers, you do not need to volunteer, but if you have a Jr. Marlin and a Marlin, you are still expected to volunteer. Note that the end times for the second shift is just an estimate, so the meet may run longer or shorter depending on how many kids sign up. If you have any questions about the volunteer positions, please let me know.
Costumes? Yes! We encourage costumes for kids and adults alike.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Donna
