Cup Hills Open/LW Results and More
Marlins,
Coach Ryan would like to congratulate every one of you for an outstanding performance in our first swim meet. A special congrats goes to Phoenix Lynch for breaking a 14 year old Greenmeadow record in 9-10 girls breaststroke- woo hoo!! The positive energy, support, and camaraderie displayed during the meet were exceptional! Now, as we shift our focus towards preparing for our second swim meet of the season, let’s continue refining our competitive skills. Here’s to another great week!
Cupertino Hills is up next and sign ups close on Weds @ 5 PM (see below). Also see below for the results & photos from Laurelwood, morning practice info, swimmers of the month, upcoming social events, and league standings.
CUPERTINO HILLS: June 10th @ Cupertino Hills
Our next meet on 6/10 is an away meet at Cupertino Hills and it is now open, so please sign up (here for swimmers and here for jobs). It will close on Weds (6/7) @ 5 PM. Please sign up on time! This is an away meet, so please factor in travel time for your morning, it is about 25 min drive from Greenmeadow.
LAURELWOOD RESULTS & PHOTOS
So many great swims at the Laurelwood meet! An impressive 66% of the swims were best times and our DQ percentage went way down too. The results are attached and also here. Big thank you to Jessie Chen for taking these beautiful photos of the meet.
MORNING PRACTICE
Morning practice has started and you can see the practice times here. Swimmers may join either morning or afternoon practice in their group, but not both. If your swimmer is doing a Greenmeadow camp, they can do morning practice and stay until camp starts. The very big benefit of morning practice is that there are many fewer swimmers and the kids get more individualized stroke instruction. This morning was a ratio of 1:1 swimmers to coaches. Another perk is that after morning practice on Fridays there is a lovely breakfast, so a good way to kick start the weekend.
PRACTICE FOCUS (6/5 - 6/10)
As we enter week 9 of our swim practice, our primary emphasis will be on getting ready for our second swim meet of the season! I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge and congratulate those who participated in our first swim meet. There were many positive aspects to take away from this past meet. Moving forward, we will persist in reinforcing our competitive swimming skills and specifically address areas where swimmers were disqualified, such as doing a scissor kick in Breaststroke. I am looking forward to another fantastic week!
CITS
Big thanks to all our CITs for helping at the meet, cheering loudly, an modeling good sportsmanship. Another big thanks to all our CITs who showed up for the dive clinic on Sunday. I saw lots of 10Us improving and more importantly having fun getting to know the older kids. CIT events are open to all 13+ swimmers. CITS and their parents can join our What's App group here and you can sign up for CIT meet jobs for Cup Hills here (check the tabs for the 6/1 CH meet).
