Marlins,

One week until the Scary Distance Meet closes!  Our Scary Distance Meet will be on Oct. 22nd from 9 AM - 12 PM. This is a super fun event and all levels are welcome to participate. It's a great first "meet" for our new swimmers and Jr. Marlins and an old favorite for our seasoned swimmers. No DQs and lots of good cheer. There will be plenty of raffle prizes (kids get one raffle prize entry per event they swim) and everyone will receive a goodie bag with a special spooky cap.

The meet is open until Weds. Oct. 19th @ 5:00 PM. Please sign up swimmers here (don't forget the final Save on the entries) and volunteers here. Cost is $10 per swimmer and you pay for it here. You can always find links to meets on the upper right corner of the website too. If you are not doing Fall Conditioning, you may still sign up, but send me an email so that I can give you permission and then I'll let you know when you can enter.

What? The Scary Distance Meet is an old Greenmeadow tradition, which many older swimmers remember as a frightfully favorite event. The kids have options to swim terrifyingly longer than normal distances. It is low key and purely for fun - no DQs, no ribbons, but lots of candy and raffle prizes. It’s purely optional, but you won’t want to miss it.

Who? The meet is open to all 2022 Summer and 2022 Fall Conditioning swimmers (Marlins and Jr. Marlins). If your swimmer is currently doing Fall Conditioning, you can enter now. If you are not doing Fall Conditioning, I will need to give you permission to sign up, so please send me the names of the swimmers and I will need to give permission to sign up.

Cost? The cost is $10 per swimmer, which includes a spooky swim cap, goodie bag, and a raffle ticket per event entered. You pay for the meet in the Team Store on our SwimTopia Website (here)

Events? We will offer the events below and your swimmers may enter up to one distance of each stroke plus the IM. Remember, there are no DQs, so be brave and go big!

• 8 & Under: 25 (1 lap) or 50 (2 laps) of fly, back, breast, free, and 100 IM (1 lap of each stroke)
• 9-12: 50 or 100 fly, back, breast, free, and 100 or 200 IM
• 13+: 50 or 100 fly, 100 or 200 of back, breast, free, and 100 or 200 IM

Volunteers? If you have a swimmer, you are expected to sign up to volunteer for at least one shift here. Note that the end times for the second shift is just an estimate, so the meet may run longer or shorter depending on how many kids sign up. If you have any questions about the volunteer positions, please let me know.

Costumes? Yes! We encourage costumes for kids and adults alike.

SIGN UP INSTRUCTIONS

There are detailed instructions regarding how to sign up for jobs and meets here. You can find the meet sign ups here or on the right side of our website. Once in the event, you can scroll down to see the edit button under your children(s) name (s) :

After hitting "Edit," you need to go to the drop down menu for each swimmer and select “Attending this meet. ” Then you’ll see all of the available events for the swimmer’s age. You need to check the box next to each event to enter. Please double check that you mark the correct events. Please don't forget to hit the “Save” button at the bottom to finalize the entries.
