Marlins,

Champs weekend is here! Although the meet is just for those signed up, the Pep Rally (today 3-5) and End of Season Awards Party (tomorrow 6-8) are for everyone. 

For those going to Champs, please remember to be there at 7 AM for 7:25 AM warm ups and the meet will likely end around 3 PM. There is a detailed timeline on page 3 in the Parent Packet.   Please review the Champs links and attachments.  

I have also attached the athlete sheets with our swimmers' events/heats/lanes and programs will be on sale for $10.  We can only enter 1 relay per age group and the final relays will be determined at the meet. 

The calls for swimmers to go to the Clerk of the Course will be sent via twitter on the “JSSL Champs” account. They will announce team scores as well. 

A reminder that parents cannot go down on the pool deck unless you are a volunteer, which means your swimmers will need to go down stairs to the clerk on their own or you can ask a CIT (pink shirts) to accompany them.  Make sure they have cap and goggles before heading down. There will be lots of adults on deck to help. Remember that the Marshals keeping parents out are volunteers and please do not ask for exceptions to this rule.

If for any reason you or your swimmers cannot make it, please let Christine Hodson ([email protected]) know ASAP. There are a lot of volunteers to manage and the sooner she can find replacements the better.

EVENTS THIS WEEK (more details below)

• Sat (7/8) @ 3-5 PM: Champ Pep Rally in the Park. All are welcome even if not attending Champs (more details below)
• Sat (7/8) @ 5-7 PM: CITs deliver Champs Goodie Bags to 12U Champs Swimmers.  CITs please dress in green or your CIT shirts.  Parents, please listen for deliveries at your doors tonight. 
• Sun (7/9) @ 7 AM-3 PM: Champs (more details below)
• Sun (7/9) @ 6-8 PM: End of Year Party & Awards Night. All welcome even if not attending champs. All swimmers 10 and under will receive participation medals and there will be special awards for other categories.

PEP RALLY: Today 3-5 PM

Join us in the Greenmeadow park on Saturday, 3-5pm, for cheers and fun as we head to our final meet - Champs! Everyone is welcome, even if not attending Champs. We will make good luck posters, sign cards for our coaches, face/body/hair paint for those interested, eat some light snacks, and throw pies at the coaches (swim-a-rama winners). If you were notified by Mari that your swimmers won the chance to throw a whipped cream pie at the coaches, the pep rally is your time to shine! Stop by anytime as we get fired up for Champs!

CHAMPS: Sunday 7 AM-3 PM

Champs is a lot of fun, but it’s a big meet and can feel overwhelming. Please review the information attached and linked carefully. It has maps to our team location, parking, food, where and when to meet for volunteer meetings, rules regarding set up and much more. Please plan on arriving at 7 AM so swimmers are in the pool by 7:25 AM Warm Ups. Champs is located at Independence High School in San Jose (617 N Jackson Ave, San Jose, CA 95133), which is about 25-30 min from Greenmeadow, so please factor in travel time.

• Parent packet here (lots of good information for families to understand the setup at the new facility, rules, maps, timeline). 
• All parent volunteers need to check in and please review the packet for information on where to check in and when and where the training meetings will be for each group of volunteers.
• Families should bring shade tents if they have them to share with our Marlin families. We will be sharing a space with Eichler and Saratoga Woods, so please be sure to review the map for our location and be respectful of the other teams in our area.

• Warm Ups will be: 7:25 am- 8:00 am Dive blocks, Lanes 1-3, 3-point entry Lanes 11, 12.  Swimmers are not allowed in other lanes or in the pool outside our designated warm up time.
• Athlete Sheets attached and Programs will be for sale ($10 and will have all of the heat and lane number information inside)
• The final relays will be deterimed at Champs by the coaches.  We can only enter 1 relay per age group, please confirm your child is not in a relay before leaving.

END OF YEAR PARTY AWARDS: Sunday 6 - 8 PM Greenmeadow park

Our end of the year party and awards night is for all swimmers and their families, not just those who attended Champs. All 10 and unders swimmers will receive a participation medal and there will be other special awards categories for each age group too. We will provide pizza and dessert to all swimmers and their families. The pool opens up after the awards for a final splash as a team.

Please bring chairs, picnic blankets, and good cheer for the park and swim stuff for the pool part after the awards.
