Time Trials, Pancakes, and Polar Plunge
Marlins!
Please join us for our Polar Plunge on Feb. 25 and our Time Trials and Pancake breakfast on March 5th. See below too for some updates on our Summer Season.
POLAR PLUNGE: Feb. 25 4-6 PM
On Feb. 25 from 4-6 PM we will be having our Polar Plunge! This is a fun low-key event where the kids plunge the depths of the pool for coins, which they can use to get some wintery cool prizes. There will be coco, cookies, and warm cheer, all for free! Please sign up here if you’d like to join in.
TIME TRIALS & PANCAKE BREAKFAST: MARCH 5th 9 AM-12 PM
We will have time trials on March 5th from 9 AM -12 PM and you can sign your swimmers up for 1- 5 events here. The deadline to sign up is Weds. March 2nd at 5PM. For our newbies, time trials are informal “meets” that allow the kids to practice their racing and become more familiar with the meet format. We ask that you sign up here for 1 volunteer shift if you have 1 swimmer and 2 shifts if you have 2+ swimmers.
If you are not doing winter conditioning, you may still do the time trials, but please send me an email so that I can enable sign ups. Please see below for detailed instructions on how to sign up.
Instead of our normal meet concessions, the amazing Angela Sherry is coming back to make her New York Times famous pancakes. The cost will be $10 and you can pay in advance here or at the pool while supplies last. Pancakes will be available from 10AM - 12 PM for all even if you are not doing the time trials. These pancakes are incredible, so you will not want to miss out.
SUMMER PREVIEW
The Swim Team Committee is starting to prepare for a great summer season, which will start on April 11th (note the Meadowlark had a typo saying May 11th, but it is April). Registration should start mid-March and you need to be a 2022-2023 GMCA member to participate, so please renew your membership here now. Practice times, cost, coaches and other details are still being finalized.
The current plan is for a practice meet in May, followed by 5 in-person dual meets, and a final Champs meet of sorts in July. The league is still finalizing the meet schedule, but the tentative schedule is on our website (lower right side).
We are planning fun social events for young and old, so it's shaping up to be a great summer!
