Coach Update 6/6

Hey, 2021 Marlins!

GREAT JOB at the practice meet! Our swimmers were very brave to jump straight into the season with a swim meet. Great job to them, and great job to you for stepping up into volunteer positions! Thank you! Results for the meet will be attached to the bottom of this note.

We are so excited for the upcoming season! Read ahead for some information about the first day, parent reminders, a what-to-bring-to-practice guide, coach contacts, and an updated version of the practice schedule and lane assignments which will be attached to the bottom of this note.

First Day:

We can’t wait to see you all for our first days on Monday and Tuesday (depending on your practice group)! Here’s some information about what to expect walking onto the pool deck for our first day:

Please try to arrive a few minutes early! Before hopping into the pool, each group is going to gather on deck to quickly introduce ourselves and get to know each other, then have a short team talk. Then we’ll get ready to hop in the water and start swimming!

Parent Reminders:

Parents, please try to send your swimmers to practice everyday they’re scheduled to be there, and to be there on time (early if you can!). The coaches try their best to create a cohesive workout plan for the season so that the swimmers can get the most out of their swim team experience, and if swimmers consistently show up to practice and show up on time, practice becomes better and more meaningful for everyone. We totally understand that people have other commitments and are not always able to make it to practice; If you can’t come on a specific day or a collection of days, please remember to send an email notifying the coaches. Thank you in advance!

ALSO: please remember that sign ups for our June 12th meet close this Wednesday at 5 pm!

What to bring:

Here’s what you’ll need to bring to practice:

  • Mask (make sure to always wear a mask on deck and to remember to walk one-way around the pool!)
  • towel/flip-flops/clothes
  • Goggles
  • Cap (recommended)
  • Water Bottle (pre-filled)
  • Kickboard
  • Fins
  • Pull buoy (optional)

Upcoming:

Coming up next week is our swim-a-rama put together by awesome volunteer Mari Ueda-Tao, and the swim committee. Please donate what you can and share the fundraising page: https://my.cheddarup.com/c/marlins-swim-a-rama !
