Coach Update 5/2/2021
Hello, Spring Conditioning Swimmers and Families!
Thanks for a great week of practices!!!
Week in Review:
We started with some backstroke for all the groups this week, then moved into some freestyle speed work, and some kick/IM work. It was a lot of fun-- especially the freestyle speed sets! The coaches really enjoyed seeing this swimmers get amped up about swimming fast. :) Here are the the quotes of the day from this past week!:
“We May Encounter Many Defeats But We Must Not Be Defeated.” – Maya Angelou
“Do What You Can With All You Have, Wherever You Are.” – Theodore Roosevelt
"No one can whistle a symphony. It takes a whole orchestra to play it." – H.E. Luccock
Parent Reminders:
Parents, please remember that registration for the summer Marlins swim team should be opening in the next few days! Keep an eye out for an email with more information about that. :)
Swimmer of the Week:
Name: Ulysse Vogl
Age: 10
Favorite Stroke: breaststroke
Favorite thing about swimming: “That I get to get into the water everyday.”
Favorite vacation: to Hawaii
Favorite food: “Raviolis!”
“It has been awesome getting to know Ulysse these past few weeks! From his very first practice I have been so impressed by how serious, engaged, and communicative he is. Sometimes I’ll finish explaining a long, complicated, difficult set and ask the group, “Are you ready to go?” and the only person who will answer me is Ulysse, with a resounding: “Yes!”. Then I’ll ask again, trying to get more people to respond, and Ulysse will answer again for his group, with an even louder: “YES!” He works hard, tries his best to change his stroke to implement technique corrections, and is just super fun to be around. Great work, Ulysse! Coach Malia and I are so proud of you!” -Coach Tjasa
