Spring Registration and Summer Updates

Marlins,

Hope you are all enjoying the session so far! The Spring session is right around the corner and our Summer Swim League has some virtual meets scheduled - yeah! Please see below for information regarding these next two sessions.

We are closely monitoring county guidelines for pools and youth sports. We will revise our practice grouping as allowed and appropriate, but for now we are planning on continuing family lanes for Spring and Summer.

SPRING REGISTRATION: Opens March 17th at 9:00 am -First Come First Served, No Priority for Current Practice Days/Times.

Our Spring Practice session will run from April 12th - June 4th. Since this is the first session in our GMCA April - April membership cycle, it will be opened to all members.  Since we have several new families joining, no priority will be given to those who currently have a practice group. We anticipate more interest than space, so please sign up quickly and understand that we may not be able to accommodate everyone.

Registration will open on March 17th at 9:00 am and practice groups will be assigned on a first come first served basis. You must be a GMCA member to be considered for a practice slot, so please sign up here now if you have not yet joined the pool.

The practice groups will be similar to what they are now (see below), but we will be adding an 8U group (Group 8 below) to accommodate more of our younger swimmers who may have taken a break over winter.

SUMMER REGISTRATION - Opening date TBD, but will be First Come First Served.

Our summer Marlins program will start on June 7 - July 30th. For now, we are planning the same family lane groupings as last summer, but there may be some slight changes:

VIRTUAL MEETS!

We will have three meets, which will all be virtual and at Greenmeadow. There will not be a separate Champs meet, but we will be submitting best times for a virtual Champs. We will also be offering a Practice Meet, but given the timing of the league meets and our swim season, it will be the Sat. before our summer practice starts. This will be completely optional and is meant to be helpful rather than cause stress. You are welcome to skip it or just come to watch for a bit so that you and your kids can have a preview before our first meet. Two of our meets will be tri meets and one will be a dual, which means we will compete against each team in our league once over the summer. The meet structure and schedule will not change even if restrictions relax.

SUMMER SCHEDULE: (Practices June 5 - July 30th)

  • June 5: Practice Meet - OPTIONAL
    • We know meets can be stressful particularly for our newer and younger swimmers (and parents too!). This would be a chance to take a peak at a meet to ease some nerves or even try it out before our first real meet.
  • June 12: First JSSL Meet (Tri or Dual -Opponents TBD)
  • June 17-18: Swim-O-Rama
    • This is our summer fundraising event where the kids see as many laps as they can swim. This year it will be done over two days in the kids usual practice times. Prizes will be raffled off and fun will be had by all.
  • June 26: Second JSSL Meet (Tri or Dual -Opponents TBD)
  • July 10: Third JSSL Meet (Tri or Dual -Opponents TBD)

We will be providing more information regarding the summer later and having new family orientation closer to the start of the season, so much more to come regarding the summer season!

Thanks,

Donna
