Spooky Time Trials Tomorrow!
Greenmeadow Families,
I hope you are all terrified for the Spooky Time Trials tomorrow! Costumes are encouraged and masks are required. There is a lot of information below, including a timeline, so please read through and let me know if you have any questions.
SWIMMER & VOLUNTEER CHECK-IN
When your swimmers arrive (timeline is below), they should go to the check-in desk, which will be set up in the park side of the clubhouse. They will then go to the goodie bag table (one per swimmer). A big thank you to all our volunteers! When you arrive, please see me at the volunteer check-in table (also in the park) and I will give your instructions and hand out the materials you’ll need. In case you haven’t met me, or don’t recognize me in my costume, I’ll be dressed as a green squid.
PROCEDURE CHANGES
There are a few of changes from our summer time trials. To make the meet move a bit more quickly, the heats are mixed gender and age based on the events. Because of this, and because many kids have no or old times, they are not strictly seeded based on time and the middle lanes are not necessarily the fastest swimmers. It’s not ideal and some heats will be a mix of abilities, ages, and genders, but please know we tried our best with the information we had on hand. The heats and lanes are attached if you want a preview.
We are also going to run the meet using all 6 lanes and we will have two heats of swimmers on the grass behind the blocks. There will be one heat on the blocks/in the water, one at the front of the grass and one at the back of the grass. We will still have 3 heats on the basketball court. Finally, the kids will no longer walk back to the park via the parking lot. Instead, we will allow them to go through the bathroom hallway in the clubhouse.
FREE FIRST FOR 12Us
For the second session only (12 and under swimmers), we will be swimming freestyle as the first event. Several of our beginner swimmers are only swimming freestyle and this way they can swim their event and leave to help limit numbers in the park. For our 8U swimmers, one parent may still go into the pool area with them to help with distancing and also to carry their masks and towel to the shallow end of the pool.
RAFFLE
We will be holding a raffle for bigger pumpkins. We have pre-printed raffle tickets with your kids names and there is one per event they have entered. If your swimmer wins, they can write their name with a sharpie on the pumpkin of their choice. We will call all the names just before the start of each session when hopefully everyone in that group is there, so don’t be late!
