Time Trials July 11 - Sign up ASAP!

Marlins,

We are having our first time trials this Saturday, July 11th from 8:30 - 11:00 am, so get ready for some racing! We will break the time trials into two groups to minimize the number of people in the park and the pool area (see below for timing and age range for each group). Time trials are similar to meets, but not as formal and there is no other team. They are a way for swimmers to practice racing off the blocks and get some times for the year. We can use these times for our JSSL League Covid Classic, which you can read more about here.

SIGN UPS

For each group, we will have a max of 36 swimmers on a first come basis, so don’t delay in signing up (13+ here and 12 U here)! Please sign up by Thurs. night at 10:00 pm. You will need to sign up each swimmer, not family. If your family has swimmers in each group, then they will need to sign up for the correct group for each swimmer, please do not put all your kids in the same group unless they are all the correct ages for that group. Note that our 6U swimmers or those with no experience don’t need to participate unless they want to do it. We understand it may be a bit confusing and scary for the new and younger swimmers.

SET UP

The park will be divided into a grid of 6 by 6 with at least 6 feet between each space. The first heat of 6 swimmers will be brought in from the park to the pool. Lanes 1, 3, 5 will take to the blocks first, while lanes 2, 4, and 6 stay back on the lawn, then they will switch, so we will be racing every other lane. Those swimmers will then exit the pool and walk around to the park to line up again.

WHAT TO BRING & WEAR

Please wear as much Greenmeadow gear as you have and please do not wear anything representing other swim teams. All swimmers should bring masks, which they will wear while lined up and only take them off before their turn to race. They can bring their towels with them into the pool area and they may want some slides for the walk back to the park. Although this isn’t a meet, you can review what we recommend swimmers bring to meets here and get some ideas of what else to bring.

CHEERING

Parents may cheer extra loudly from the fence along the parking lot and can wait between races in the sides of the park or front of the pool, but please wear masks and keep your distance. We may need a few parent volunteers to help with timing, so please help where you can.

EVENTS

Everyone can swim all strokes. For those who are new to the team, we only offer one distance in each stroke per age group as follows and in the following order with 25 being 1 lap, 50 two laps, and 100 4 laps:
