Covid-19 April Update

All, The Greenmeadow Swim Team Committee hopes everyone is safe and as happy as possible during the shelter in place. We would like nothing more than to be poolside kicking off the swim team with boisterous social events and exhausting practices, but sadly we can't predict when those things will happen. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we wait until May to make major updates regarding the swim season. In the meantime, we wanted to provide you with the following decisions that have been made by JSSL (our swim league) and the Greenmeadow Swim Team Committee.

CHAMPS IS TOO FUN FOR ITS OWN GOOD

The JSSL reps made the tough decision to cancel Champs this year. Champs is such a vibrant and exciting meet due to the cheers of over 700 people, but it's unlikely gatherings of that size will be permitted over the next few months, so it made the most sense to cancel.

2020 SENIORS CAN SWIM IN 2021

In good news, JSSL has decided that all 2020 seniors will be allowed to swim in 2021! This means they won't miss out on a final summer of old fashioned fun with their swim buddies or making their parents cry with their senior bios on the blocks at Champs.

HOLDING OUT HOPE FOR A DUAL MEET SEASON

As for the timing and format of dual meets, the JSSL reps will meet again in May to finalize those plans. At that time, they should have more guidance from the county and state on gatherings over the summer and we will let you know what they decide. The league reps are all swim team lovers who will do their creative best to make meets happen if at all possible.

MARLINS WILL ADAPT AND SURVIVE

Around mid-May we will also provide an update on plans for practices and social events. We are working on contingency plans in anticipation that some restrictions will still be in place. We are going to make the best of this season in any way that we can, while of course complying with Santa Clara county guidance, which for now only provides clarity through May 3. We promise to do everything we can to Fire Up the Greenmeadow spirit over the summer and to make the off-season Fall and Winter events better than ever.

WE APPRECIATE YOUR SUPPORT AND PATIENCE

In mid-May, when we have more information regarding meets, practices, and events, we will make further decisions regarding the scope of what we will be able to offer for the season both in-person and virtually. GMCA and Marlins are both volunteer-driven non-profits that are doing everything possible to serve our members, staff, and facilities during this time while also preparing to re-open the pool and clubhouse when the shelter-in-place order is lifted. After we find out what we can and will offer for summer 2020 marlins program, we will give the members time to stay in the program or pull out. But till then, please be patient and trust us to have your back...
